Alyssa joined the Serenity Counseling team in April of 2021 as our super helpful administrative assistant. She has a passion for helping and supporting others which enables her to fit in perfectly with the SCS crew! She is currently a college student with plans to graduate with her degree in psychology and business. She is also an honors student and member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Alyssa is strong in her Christian faith and believes in sharing the love of God with as many people as possible. She believes that supporting others through counseling, coaching, and communication are some of the most powerful tools to use for growth.
Alyssa was born in Corpus Christi and grew up in Taft, Texas where she currently resides. She graduated from Taft High School in 2019 as 3rd in her class with 6 college hours. She then went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin for one year where she earned 30 course hours with a major in Social Work. While she attended UT, Alyssa was able to fulfill her service-learning requirement by completing 45 hours with a Non-profit organization called “Street Youth Ministries”. Through this organization, she got to experience helping others on a more personal level which, in turn, deepened her passion for helping others. Alyssa plans to transfer to Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi, where she plans to major in psychology and business and hopes to finish her degree locally.
Since 2018, Alyssa has been blessed to experience her journey of life with an amazing and supportive boyfriend, Michael. They have been together for almost 3 years and have two beautiful puppies named Jax and Finn that definitely keep them on their toes! Alyssa loves her fur babies and tries to spend as much time with them as possible. Alyssa and Michael also try to stay very involved with their community where they share a love for giving back, especially to their roots! While their work schedules are quite conflicting, they make it a point to make time for each other and family. Alyssa is strongly family oriented and loves them more than she could put into words.
Alyssa has always had a passion for helping others, but her inspiration for wanting to have a career in psychology came, in large part, from her aunt who is a counselor. Alyssa has had first-hand experience with witnessing the power of counseling and how life changing she believes it can be. She believes one of the most beautiful things in life is to witness someone’s personal and spiritual growth and to be a part of that journey with them. As Alyssa gets older and gains more experience, she is looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for her, especially with her journey with the SCS team!
