Melissa Gober, Office Administrator

Melissa joined our team in April of 2024 and serves as our amazing Office Administrator. Melissa was born and raised in Shreveport, LA. She received her bachelor's degree in social work in 2006 from Howard Payne University (Sting em'!!!). Through her degree, the Lord has led her to work in the nursing home, residential treatment center and foster care/adoption agency settings. Outside of social work, she has worked in childcare programs, leading classrooms and teaching little ones.

She is blessed to have been married to her favorite person in the world, Stephen, for almost 17 years! Together, they have 3 fantastic children, Darby (14), Zane (12) and Izzy (9). They have been a homeschooling family for the past 6 years, which has been quite a journey! God has grown them as a family through these past years and Melissa loves seeing how all 3 of her kids have grown in independence, their love for learning as well as their love for the Lord. As a family, they enjoy traveling to as many state parks as possible. Their goal is to visit every state park in Texas! On a more regular basis, they love to play games, watch movies, read books aloud and eat as much tex-mex as possible!

Melissa and her family are very involved in their church at First Baptist George West. The kids love attending all weekly activities, helping at vacation bible school and serving meals to youth. Melissa and Stephen lead a weekly Bible study called "Family Life". Melissa is a part of the Embrace Grace Ministry (an incredible ministry for single, unwed mothers), women's ministry and kitchen committee. Outside of her local church, Melissa was able to partner with Samaritan's Purse where she volunteered at a small hospital in Western Africa. She volunteered as a labor and delivery coach and lactation consultant, working with the Muslim community. She is hopeful to return as quickly as the Lord allows it!

In her spare time, Melissa loves baking, gardening, embroidery, hiking and having coffee with friends. She been a follower of Jesus Christ for over 30 years! He continues to be faithful to lead and guide her life in every season. One of her favorite verses that has been close to her heart in this season of transition is, "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand." Psalm 37:23-24.

Melissa was first attracted to this position when she learned that Serenity is a Christian practice and that she would have the ability to be a part of a common mission to serve and help those in need. She especially loves the kindness and genuine hearts of her fellow teammates. As a new resident of Beeville, she looks forward to serving those in the community and growing closer to her new work family.
